Keep Your Head Up

Hello people! Right now I'm working. In a way I'm taking a small break. I've been over exerting myself. So, it's time to relax.

I'm not in the best of spirits, but like most moments this too shall pass. Right now my heart goes out to all people that feel like they are in a hopeless situation. Keep your head up. I know it can be hard feeling as if you are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Sometimes it's best to sleep on it, relax and think logically.

When, I'm faced with an issue I now sleep on it and in the morning i feel better making my decision, because I had time to calm down and relax.

Making decisions when you're not level headed is never the best option.

Until next time folks!

OMG!

I was so not aware that I didn't update my blog since late March! Wow how time has passed. I am currently laying in bed with a viral infection, ugh! Since I work with kids, which is why I'm getting sick again.

Now moving on... I was watching a video on YouTube last night based on Black Women and Self Hate. The reason why I'm not a big fan of getting into this subject is because, people are just pointing the finger at a group of women to blame. Does anyone ever try to see where this stems from? Who keeps it going? Why the insecurities still exist?

Think of it as this, a child is wearing their hair a certain way. Then a group of kids come along with a different texture and makes the child feel bad about their hair. If this child had a strong foundation of support, backing up this child saying that they look fine as is, then this child wouldn't feel as insecure. This example applies to Black Women and even of different races. If we had a strong support system in the first place, then there would not be so many that straighten their hair to feel accepted.

I can argue on both sides. I was relaxed for a long period of time and natural for a long time as well. Til this day when I wear a weave, I get approached more by men in my age group. When I'm natural not as much. I'm not the type of female to straighten her hair unless it's once in a blue moon. It's just something I have observed. Many women are sticking to the trend because the men aren't helping it or society for that matter.

Being natural is not an easy thing! I get stared at all the time, subliminal messages, jokes from men and women. It can do a lot to your self esteem when embarking on such a journey alone. That's why I don't only blame the women. I blame everyone for allowing the standards of beauty to poison all of us into believing the uniqueness in our hair is not beautiful. Young girls cannot be taught to accept themselves, if the mothers don't truly accept themselves.

Until next time folks!
