An Article I Stumbled Upon

So I was sitting in the bathroom about an hour ago, helping to do a touch up on my sister's hair. ( Yes just because I don't use it on my hair doesn't mean that I don't help my sister out everynow and then lol). I asked her what strength of relaxer she used. She told me it was a Mild, someone told her that Mild is less harsh than Regular of Super.

I believe if they all have the same ingredients than it may not make that much of a difference... But I wanted to put that to the test. So I looked it up and searched on Google: Is a mild relaxer better than a regular relaxer?

The first link that was on this list was an article was from buzzle.com titled : "Relaxers for Black Hair"

The statement I read in this article and I will quote says, "To manage black hair, the easiest way is to use relaxers for black hair."

The first thought that popped into my hair was WTF?!?! How can people make articles with such bold statement? It made me a little upset. I understand that majority of the African- American women and some men choose to chemically alter their hair. That doesn't necessarily make the taking care of your hair process easier. I'm sure if many people ( not only blacks) with tightly coiled, kinky, or curly hair knew how to TRULY care for their hair types, they would not feel the need to chemically alter their hair unless they truly wanted to. NOT because that's all they know.

I'm not saying I am the type of person to discriminate against relaxers, that is someone's personal choice which I will not influence. However, if articles with statements like that are put on the web or anywhere that will make us believe we do not have alternatives or options to get straight hair. Which in my opinion is completely wrong!!! I now realize that I do have options. If I wanted straight hair I can put a weave in or flat iron it. If I wanted to maintain my naturally curly styles I can do twist outs, braid outs, or bantu knots and so much more.

The point of this blog is to say know that you HAVE OPTIONS and don't settle for one thing if that's not what you want to do.

Until next time world,

The Challenge is Off!!

My 3 week hair challenge is off!!!! I couldn't take it anymore. I need more variety with my styles. So I should try to put it back into kinky twists or something... Not too sure of what I'm doing with my hair yet. After all Thanksgiving is coming up this following week and I want to have a really cute hairstyle. Today is Sunday which is the day I finally chose to stick with when it comes to cleansing my hair. I need to deep condition as well. Right now I'm on my second bottle of Desert Essence Coconut Shampoo and conditioner for dry hair. So I guess after using my second bottle will determine whether I use it again or not. Only time will tell...

Until next time folks! :-)

Rediscovery

Why is this so damned difficult???

Whenever there is situation where I need to do something for myself, I get scattered brained and cannot even get started on it.

It's a damned shame. Wouldn't you think doing something for yourself is the easiest thing to do, such as treating yourself? Gosh!

This is exactly what happens when you put your wants on the back burner... I believe I committed the ultimate sin...

I stopped dreaming...
I did and it's sad to say it

I don't even blog as consistently as I used to.

So my piece of advice for this blog is to never stop dreaming or else... You will live your life for others to a point where you forget about yourself completely and become consumed

Keep hope and your imagination alive. As for me, I need to dust mine off a little bit lol

It's time to make rediscovery of... Myself

Until next time folks

It's Cleansing Time!!!

I've chosen every Sunday to wash or cleanse my hair. So this time around instead of using Shampoo I will just use Apple Cider Vinegar diluted with water, to cleanse my hair and restore its pH balance. I don't really have a preference with the brand of it. Considering that I have only officially used it 1 & 1/2 times if that makes sense lol... I will post up some pics tm of the difference in my hair before the rinse and after.

I'm Challenging Myself

Hello People!!!!

I am going to give myself a 3-week challenge.... I'm going to keep my hair in twists for up to 3 weeks. This will prevent my hands from staying in my hair and creating tangles... I washed my hair with Desert Essence Organics Coconut Shampoo and followed that with a conditioner. Then I applied my shea butter mix. Here are some pics:
